Finding A Way That Works For You
There was one method that I found interesting. A person found that the best way for him to learn a new language was to learn a couple phrases from a travel book, find a native speaker, and start having a conversation with them. Even if he made 100 mistakes throughout their conversation he knew that the people would correct him and he'll end up knowing more than he did at the beginning. This person didn't necessarily travel but he added people on Skype or communication apps.
Some people would start reading the grammar of the new language and try to understand it. Others would learn the 500 most frequently used words and go from there. All of these people had fun discovering new languages, it was a hobby for them, not a burden. If we were to change our perspective on learning a new language we may find a method that works for us.
